Whether you're making a claim for your automobile, home or commercial insurance policy, the first thing you do is call your broker and speak with a claims advisor. The broker will request details about the incident and will advise you of the next steps you must take. Auto Claims Has your vehicle been involved in an accident? If yes, do not admit fault. Call the police department to determine if you can or should leave the scene. Then contact Pottruff & Smith immediately; you will need the following information:
Call 1.888.768.8001 and speak with the Claims Manager (Mirella Perricone, extension 333). During the call, Mirella will request and record all the necessary information. She will review your file for your current rating and history and will advise, based on her evaluation, on whether submitting a claim is recommended or not. If so, Mirella assists with filing and following the claim's progress. Personal Home or Commercial Property Claims Break-ins, water damage and wind damage are just a few of the types of incidents that may cause you to make a claim on your personal home or commercial property. Report break-ins to the local police and before you begin the claims process, try to minimize further damage safely and call your broker for direction. She'll review your file for your current rating and history and will advise, based on her evaluation, on whether submitting a claim is recommended or not. If so, Mirella assists with filing and following the claim's progress. Health Products and Service Claims For most health products and services claims, your pay direct card will connect your claim to the insurance company directly. In the pharmacy, presenting your prescription to the pharmacist along with your drug card will process the claim automatically. Depending on your plan design, you may be asked to pay a small portion of the claim. For hospital room claims, the majority of hospitals will submit directly to the insurance company and, again, depending on your plan design, you may be asked to pay a portion of the claim. For other health services, you may be required to pay the cost of the claim first and submit the receipt along with a claim form to the insurance company for reimbursement. In many cases the claim amount can be deposited directly to your bank account. Dental Claims Many dental claims, similar to prescription drug claims, are processed on the EDI network. Depending on your dentist, you may be asked to pay the claim and arrange for reimbursement. Many dentist offices will submit the claim on your behalf. Payment is usually received within two weeks. In some cases, you may have to pay the claim and submit the receipts with a dental claim form. For Disability benefits, you will need to have a doctor's report to confirm your claim.
